A drone attack attributed to Russia targeted five gas stations in the Dnipropetrovsk region of southeastern Ukraine, killing at least one person, according to local authorities. The strikes occurred overnight Wednesday into Thursday and caused several fires and significant property damage.
Regional Governor Oleksandr Hanzha stated that one woman was killed in the attack. Three other women were injured, including one who was pregnant, according to information released by authorities on social media.
The strikes hit several fuel distribution sites, damaging equipment at all the targeted stations. Fires sparked by the attacks required emergency response amid heightened security tensions in the region.
Meanwhile, in the Chernihiv region in northern Ukraine, four other gas stations were hit in the past 24 hours, according to local authorities. These attacks are part of a series of increasingly frequent drone strikes targeting Ukrainian energy and logistics infrastructure.
Ukrainian authorities believe these operations have intensified in recent weeks in several regions near the front lines, including Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Dnipropetrovsk. According to Serhiy Beskrestnov, an advisor to the Ministry of Defense, these attacks aim to weaken the supply capabilities of Ukrainian forces on the front lines.
In this context, Ukrainian officials accuse Moscow of pursuing a strategy aimed at degrading the country's civilian and logistical infrastructure, while fighting continues on several fronts and drone attacks remain almost daily in areas close to the front lines.
