The number of Palestinian victims in the Gaza Strip continues to rise despite the implementation of a ceasefire in October 2025. According to the latest data published by the Gaza Ministry of Health, the total number of people killed since the start of the Israeli offensive in October 2023 has reached 72,961 deaths, while 173,092 people have been injured.
In a statement released Saturday, health authorities in the Palestinian enclave reported that five people had been killed and 49 others wounded in the past 48 hours. The victims were transported to hospitals in Gaza, while rescue operations continued in several areas of the territory.
The ministry stated that since October 10, 2025, the date the ceasefire came into effect, 951 people have lost their lives in attacks attributed to Israel. During the same period, 2,984 people were injured and the bodies of 782 were recovered from the rubble.
Despite the truce, local authorities say Israeli attacks are continuing in parts of the Gaza Strip. Search operations by rescue teams are also continuing to uncover new victims buried under buildings destroyed in the fighting.
The Ministry of Health emphasizes that thousands of bodies are still believed to be buried under the rubble, raising fears of a further increase in the death toll in the coming weeks and months. Difficult access to certain areas and a lack of equipment are significantly slowing recovery operations.
After more than two and a half years of conflict, the humanitarian situation remains extremely worrying in the Gaza Strip. Medical infrastructure remains severely damaged and a large part of the population continues to live in precarious conditions, while humanitarian organizations are calling for increased international aid.
