A massive Russian attack on Kyiv has left at least 17 dead and more than 40 wounded. The Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky criticized the lack of anti-missile systems provided by the allies, believing that lives could have been saved.

In the aftermath of a night of intense bombing on the Ukrainian capital, Volodymyr Zelensky directly blamed his Western partners. He claimed that additional missile defenses would have prevented casualties, while the provisional death toll stood at at least 17, with more than 40 wounded.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha also raised his voice. "Russian airstrikes don't take a summer vacation," he declared, calling on Kyiv's partners to maintain their uninterrupted support. "Every interceptor counts. These are life-saving tools, and I urge all our partners to expedite all decisions in this matter."

Sybiha also called for stricter sanctions against Moscow, deeming it essential to disrupt Russia's ability to produce these ballistic missiles. "Additional and severe sanctions are critical and urgent," he insisted.

This attack is among the most significant carried out against Kyiv in several weeks, and comes at a time when negotiations on new deliveries of air defence systems remain stalled among several Western allies.
