Israeli airstrike in southern Lebanon despite a fragile ceasefire, according to Lebanese media

The Israeli army carried out airstrikes and artillery fire in southern Lebanon on Sunday, despite a ceasefire agreement in place, according to Lebanese media. These attacks come amid persistent high tensions between the two countries, despite US mediation efforts.

The official Lebanese news agency NNA reports that Israeli warplanes bombed the Al-Hariq area, located between the towns of Kfartebnit and Nabatieh al-Fawqa in southern Lebanon. No immediate casualty figures or reports of injuries have been released.

According to the same source, artillery fire also targeted the outskirts of the town of Qantara, while an Israeli drone reportedly dropped a stun grenade on the town of Mansouri in the Tyre district. Further explosions were reported in Tayri, in the Bint Jbeil region.

Lebanese authorities also indicate that Israeli drones have been intensively flying over several villages located around the coastal city of Tyre, fueling concerns of a military escalation despite recent diplomatic commitments.

These strikes come as a framework agreement was signed on June 26 between Israel and Lebanon under American mediation, aimed at ending hostilities and organizing the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanese territory.

Since March 2, 2026, Israeli military operations in Lebanon have reportedly caused at least 4,303 deaths and more than 12,000 injuries, according to Lebanese authorities, and displaced more than one million people, in a war that continues to undermine the stability of the region.
