In the face of global tensions, Pope Leo XIV calls for a message of peace and coexistence

Pope Leo XIV on Wednesday called for a message of peace and coexistence among peoples, in an international context marked by growing tensions and deep divisions.

Speaking aboard the papal plane flying from Cameroon to Algeria, the pontiff stressed the need to promote mutual respect between nations and cultures. He emphasized that the world needed a calming and unifying message more than ever.

These statements come just hours after another criticism from the American president. Donald Trump against him on social media, in a context of public disagreements between the two men on several international issues.

The Pope, the first American to lead the Catholic Church, also cited his tour of Africa as an example of the importance of dialogue between communities. According to him, these trips illustrate the need to strengthen exchanges and mutual understanding.

Throughout his speeches, Leo XIV emphasized that lasting peace is impossible without a collective commitment to coexistence. He called for overcoming divisions and prioritizing diplomatic solutions to current crises.

In a world facing multiple conflicts, this appeal from the Pope reflects a desire to promote a more peaceful international climate, based on dialogue and respect for differences.
