During her tour, she notably met with Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa, who presented her with an honorary award.
She was accompanied by her advisor Corey Lewandowski, a figure close to Donald Trump, although the latter is not officially joining the State Department.
According to US officials, Noem now reports to Assistant Secretary of State Christopher Landau and no longer directly to the White House.
