In the West Bank, a Palestinian family finds their house, still under construction, occupied by Israeli settlers.

A Palestinian family claims to have lost the house they were building in the village of Jalud, in the occupied West Bank, after Israeli settlers moved into the building before construction was even finished. The case illustrates the ongoing tensions surrounding settlement expansion in the Palestinian territories.

Mohammad Salameh was building this house for his family and his recently engaged son, who was to begin his married life there. According to his testimony, a group of Israeli settlers seized the property earlier this week.

A video authenticated by Reuters shows at least six settlers walking on the roof of the two-story house, located at the foot of a nearby hill. The footage confirms their presence on the site while the building was still under construction.

Mohammad Salameh claims to have requested the intervention of the Israeli army and police, but has received no response. He now fears losing his property permanently and worries that other Palestinian homes in the area may suffer the same fate.

“Only God knows. If there is law and order, then they will leave. If they succeed in taking one, the others will follow,” the owner said.

This case comes amid heightened tensions in the West Bank, where Palestinians are denouncing the intensification of Israeli settlement expansion and violence perpetrated by some settlers under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government. These developments are fueling concerns about the evolving situation in the occupied territories.
