Individuals linked to North Korea are infiltrating companies in Europe by posing as remote workers, using artificial intelligence and automated tools to perform their tasks, according to several alerts from cybersecurity specialists.
These fake employees manage to secure positions in technology or service companies through online recruitment processes. Once hired, they reportedly use AI systems, chatbots, and automated scripts to complete assigned tasks, sometimes simultaneously holding multiple jobs at different companies.
This method would allow for the generation of revenue abroad while circumventing international sanctions against Pyongyang. In some cases, cybersecurity researchers also fear that these infiltrations could facilitate fraud or economic espionage.
Experts point out that these operations can represent a significant risk for companies, particularly in terms of data leaks, access to internal systems or compromise of digital infrastructures.
Faced with this threat, European companies are urged to strengthen their verification procedures during remote recruitment and to closely monitor access to IT systems, as the rise of teleworking and artificial intelligence technologies makes these infiltrations more difficult to detect.
