Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš has publicly voiced his support for Hungarian leader Viktor Orbán on the eve of parliamentary elections in Hungary.
In a message posted on social media, Babiš stated that Orbán represented "the best choice" to ensure the country's stability in an uncertain international context. He praised his commitment to a Europe based on the sovereignty of states and economic competitiveness.
This endorsement comes as the election is expected to be particularly close. According to polls, Viktor Orbán, in power for 16 years, could face a challenge from his former ally, now opposition leader Peter Magyar.
Babiš's stance illustrates the rapprochement between the two leaders, now allies within the same political current in the European Parliament, defending a critical line towards Brussels.
Formerly seen as a pro-European leader, Andrej Babiš has gradually moved closer to Orbán's positions, particularly on issues of national sovereignty and migration policy.
On the eve of a decisive vote, this support reinforces the European dimension of the Hungarian election, the outcome of which could influence the political balance within the European Union.
