Agreement between Washington and Tehran: Netanyahu's influence over the United States called into question

The interim agreement between the United States and Iran could ultimately have an unexpected consequence: weakening the political image of Benjamin Netanyahu, long considered one of the most influential foreign leaders in Washington. According to analysts, diplomats, and former American officials, the Israeli Prime Minister could see a portion of the authority he has built on the international stage crumble.

Netanyahu has indeed built his political career on one central idea: his ability to maintain perfect strategic coordination between Israel and the United States on the Iranian issue. Leveraging his relationships with Republican circles, he has presented himself as the only Israeli leader capable of exerting lasting influence on successive American presidents and shaping their policy toward Tehran.

At the height of his influence, he was even nicknamed the "American Whisperer" by some diplomats, a reference to his ability to directly influence Washington's strategic decisions. According to these same sources, no other Israeli prime minister had ever so effectively mobilized the US Congress or built such a strong political network within the American ruling class.

But the agreement reached between Washington and Tehran, aimed at ending a period of conflict involving the United States and Israel since February, appears to mark a turning point. Now, according to several observers, Benjamin Netanyahu is no longer able to shape American policy on Iran, but is forced to adapt to it.

Le président américain Donald Trump Israel would pursue a strategy of reaching an agreement with Tehran, while giving less weight to Israeli objections, which are increasingly perceived as constraints in the negotiation process. This development would reflect a rebalancing of relations between the two historical allies.

In this context, several analysts believe that Iran would strengthen its regional influence while Israel's diplomatic influence would decline. This situation, they argue, would place Benjamin Netanyahu in a more precarious position on the international stage, even as his political authority is also facing growing internal tensions.
