An Israeli airstrike killed a man, his wife, and their six-year-old daughter in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, while another attack claimed a fourth victim in Gaza City, according to Palestinian health officials. This latest violence comes as talks aimed at advancing the US-brokered ceasefire agreement remain stalled.
According to Palestinian medical services, the strike targeted a residential building in Deir al-Balah, in the center of the enclave. Omar Abu Qassem, his wife Asma, and their daughter Habeeba were killed. Their three-year-old son, Sami, survived but was wounded. The Israeli army stated that the target of the operation was a Hamas fighter.
At Al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir al-Balah, relatives and residents gathered to pay their final respects to the victims. "This child is the only survivor. How can he live without a father, without a mother?" Abu Anas Shahin, a relative of the family, told Reuters, denouncing the suffering of civilians in the enclave.
Another Israeli airstrike in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood of Gaza City also killed one person, according to Palestinian health officials. The Israeli military did not immediately comment on the incident.
According to Gaza health officials, more than 1,100 Palestinians, mostly civilians, have been killed by Israeli airstrikes since the October 2025 ceasefire between Israel and Hamas came into effect. While this truce has ended the main fighting, Israeli airstrikes continue almost daily. For its part, Israel reports that four of its soldiers have been killed by Palestinian militants since the ceasefire began, while both sides accuse each other of violating its terms.
