On Monday, France remained under the influence of a high-pressure system positioned over the British Isles, ensuring generally calm weather. However, there was a marked contrast between a cool north in the morning and a south where the heat became increasingly oppressive as the day progressed, with a risk of thunderstorms in the afternoon.
The morning begins with low temperatures in the north, between 3 and 7°C, with even a risk of localized frost from Normandy to Burgundy and as far south as Franche-Comté. Despite this, sunshine prevails along the Atlantic coast and in the central regions, while clouds are more prevalent near the northeastern borders.
In the south, the atmosphere is quite different. By late morning, temperatures are already around 20°C, before climbing to 25°C in the afternoon between Aquitaine, the Midi, and the Mediterranean regions. This mild weather is accompanied by increasingly unsettled skies, with showers and localized thunderstorms expected near the mountains, particularly in the Pyrenees, the Massif Central, and Corsica.
In the end, the day illustrates a France divided in two: cool and still spring-like in the north, warmer and more unstable in the south, where the atmosphere sometimes becomes heavy in the second part of the day.
