Saturday will remain a very pleasant day across much of France, with plenty of sunshine and temperatures that are particularly mild for this time of year. It will even feel like summer from the center to the east of the country, with highs between 22 and 25°C, levels more typical of June.
But this mild weather also heralds a stormy turn of events. From the afternoon onwards, thunderstorms, some of them severe, will break out in Brittany and Normandy before spreading to the southwest in the evening. The Pyrenees, the Aquitaine plains, and the Toulouse region will be progressively affected, before extending southeastwards overnight from Saturday to Sunday.
This change is caused by a low-pressure system moving up from Portugal towards the Bay of Biscay, bringing heavier and more unstable air. Despite some high clouds and cumulus clouds in the mountains, fine weather will persist across much of the country before the expected deterioration on Sunday.
