Heatwave: temperatures up to 40°C this Saturday, France remains under stifling heat

The heatwave continues across much of France this Saturday, with temperatures remaining exceptionally high for June. While some coastal regions will enjoy a slight respite, the interior of the country will continue to face intense heat in often humid and sunny conditions.

From the Southwest to the central regions, passing through Centre-Val de Loire, Berry, Limousin, Auvergne, the Rhône Valley and the Grand Est, maximum temperatures will frequently reach between 35 and 39°C. Peaks close to 40°C are even expected locally in the most exposed plains.

The sky will be generally clear, although low clouds and sea mist may affect coastal areas in the morning. As the day progresses, the heat will favor the development of isolated thunderstorms, which will nevertheless remain scattered.

Residents of the English Channel coast, Brittany, parts of the Atlantic coast, and certain Mediterranean areas will benefit from more breathable air thanks to sea breezes. Despite more moderate temperatures, the atmosphere will sometimes remain humid, offering a welcome respite from the heatwave affecting the rest of the country.
