The Livret A savings account saw net inflows of €80 million in July 2026, ending six consecutive months of net withdrawals. However, this result remains modest compared to the historical average for July, which stands at €1,34 billion over the last ten years. The French appear to have slowed the massive withdrawals observed since the beginning of the year, without yet returning to the usual savings levels for this summer period.
The other booklets are still struggling
Other regulated savings products are struggling to get out of the red. The Sustainable and Solidarity Development Savings Account (LDDS) and the People's Savings Account (LDDS) still showed net withdrawals in July. However, the combined balances of the Livret A and the LDDS reached €608,4 billion, demonstrating the considerable amount of savings still held in these state-guaranteed accounts.
This tentative recovery comes at a time when households are reassessing their investments in the face of returns that are struggling to keep pace with inflation. The return to positive deposits in the Livret A savings account could signal a stabilization of savings behavior, but the gap with the historical performance of July suggests that caution remains the watchword among French savers.
