Breakdown and towing professionals demonstrated in Paris on Thursday to denounce soaring operating costs and demand government aid in the face of rising fuel prices. Several convoys of tow trucks converged on the capital at the call of various professional organizations in the sector, including the National Automobile Federation (FNA).
Industry representatives believe that many companies are now facing serious financial difficulties. They criticize regulated rates, which they consider outdated for certain breakdown and impoundment services, while expenses related to fuel, insurance, specialized equipment, and vehicle electrification have increased sharply in recent years.
A profession that is demanding an emergency plan
The protesters are demanding, in particular, targeted aid to absorb the rise in fuel prices, an increase in regulated tariffs, and a fiscal and administrative support plan. Industry organizations are also raising concerns about payment delays for certain services provided to government agencies and law enforcement.
The mobilization comes within a broader context of tensions related to energy prices in France. For several weeks, fishermen, transporters, tradespeople, and healthcare professionals have been increasingly appealing for help in the face of rising fuel costs, which have become one of the main sources of economic and social tension at the moment.
