Two days after the acquittal of the facilitator of the Alphonse-Baudin nursery school, in the 11th arrondissement of Paris, who was prosecuted for alleged sexual assaults on nine children, the families continue to denounce a decision which they consider incomprehensible.
Nearly a hundred people gathered this Thursday morning in front of the school to express their support for the children and their families. The demonstrators demanded that the voices of minors be given greater consideration in legal proceedings and that protective measures be strengthened within schools.
Families are demanding changes.
Several Parisian elected officials participated in the rally, including Paris councilors David Belliard and Laëtitia Vipard, who came to show their support for the families. The youth worker had been prosecuted for alleged sexual assaults on nine kindergarten children. At the end of the trial, the court acquitted him, ruling that the evidence in the case did not establish his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. This decision sparked strong emotions among the parents, who affirmed that their mobilization would continue in order to defend the children involved and to obtain improvements in the judicial handling of this type of case.
