To mark International Women's Day, Gisèle Pelicot and her daughter Caroline Darian marched side-by-side at the head of the procession in Paris on Sunday. Greeted by applause from the crowd, the two women participated in the demonstration organized in the northeast of the capital to denounce violence against women and defend their rights.
Having become a global figure in the fight against sexual violence, Gisèle Pelicot delivered a determined message to the demonstrators. "We will not give up!" she declared as the march set off shortly after 14:30 p.m.
Her daughter, Caroline Darian, also spoke to commend the mobilization. Saying she was "extremely proud" to participate in the march with the Women's Foundation, she paid tribute to her mother, whom she described as a symbol of hope for victims. According to her, Gisèle Pelicot's presence at the demonstration sends "a true message of hope to all the victims in France."
