A discussion and Q&A session will be held on Tuesday, March 24th at 19:30 pm at the Lumière d'Août bookstore, in the 14th arrondissement of Paris, to mark the publication of the book Introduction to philosophy by essayist Karim Bouhassoun. The event will offer a public discussion around a classic but still relevant question: "Can peace be made by force?".
The evening will be introduced by Karim Bouhassoun, philosopher and author of the book, alongside Denis Monod-Broca, engineer-architect. Together, they will open a discussion with the audience on the philosophical, political, and geopolitical issues raised by this question, which runs through the history of thought and remains at the heart of contemporary international debates.
A meeting to foster dialogue between philosophy and public debate
This meeting is part of the approach championed by Karim Bouhassoun, who seeks to make philosophy accessible to the widest possible audience. Through his book Introduction to philosophyPublished by Le Lys Bleu, the author proposes to explore major philosophical questions (war, peace, justice, or morality) in order to encourage everyone to exercise their critical thinking in the face of major societal debates.
A former teacher and consultant to public institutions, Karim Bouhassoun has been interested for several years in the link between intellectual reflection and civic engagement. His lectures and publications aim to bring philosophical thought closer to contemporary issues, particularly in the age of social networks and instant information.
The event will take place at the Lumière d'Août bookstore, 73 rue d'Alésia in Paris's 14th arrondissement. As places are limited, the organizers encourage participants to reserve their spot by text message before the event.
