Already summoned to court following his altercation with three police officers in Marseille, Sébastien Delogu is facing a new case. The La France Insoumise MP for Bouches-du-Rhône is the subject of a complaint filed by his ex-wife around July 22nd. This legal action concerns a family dispute over their son, compounded by alleged unpaid child support.
A family conflict over their son
The reported events date back to July. Sébastien Delogu reportedly wanted to pick up his children before leaving with his son. A particularly tense exchange then took place with his ex-wife. She subsequently went to a police station to file a complaint. The MP then reportedly returned the child home that night. The precise circumstances of this episode will now have to be established as part of the legal proceedings. Unpaid child support payments were also reported.
When she filed her complaint, Sébastien Delogu's ex-wife also reportedly informed investigators of unpaid child support. No specific amount or detailed timeframe regarding these alleged arrears has been made public. The complaint, therefore, does not solely concern the family situation surrounding their son. The issue of child support payments is also among the elements brought to the investigators' attention.
A first summons on August 11th
Sébastien Delogu was reportedly summoned to the police station for the first time on August 11th to be questioned in this case. The MP apparently failed to appear. A new date was then set for him. The Marseille representative finally responded to this second summons on August 26th, just a few days before the existence of his ex-wife's complaint became public.
Another procedure following his altercation with three police officers
This new case is separate from the altercation between Sébastien Delogu and three police officers on August 24 in the building where he lives in Marseille's 2nd arrondissement. The officers, who were searching for a man suspected of stealing a watch, were attempting to enter the building when the situation became tense with the member of parliament. The accounts of the two parties differ. The police officers accuse Sébastien Delogu of physically obstructing their entry to the building and of making insulting remarks. Three officers have filed a complaint for insulting a public official. Sébastien Delogu, for his part, maintains that the men, who were in plain clothes, initially failed to clearly identify themselves as police officers. He claims to have been insulted and assaulted and has himself filed a complaint against persons unknown for insults and physical violence.
More than eight hours in police custody
On August 27, Sébastien Delogu went to the central police station in Marseille accompanied by his lawyer. Taken into custody as part of an investigation into contempt of court, he remained there for over eight hours before being released that evening. Upon his release, his lawyer declined to make a statement. The member of parliament subsequently posted a message indicating that "everything is fine ," before thanking "the police officers who behaved impeccably" during his detention. Sébastien Delogu is summoned to appear before the Marseille criminal court on November 13 for contempt of public officials. The proceedings concerning the complaint filed by his ex-wife are continuing.
Delogu denounces a "smear campaign"
Faced with the various accusations made public in recent days, the LFI deputy disputes some of the allegations against him. He states, in particular, that he "absolutely refutes the accusations" concerning his behavior during the police operation of August 24th and denounces "a media smear campaign . " The new complaint filed by his ex-wife now opens a separate case, concerning family matters and alleged unpaid child support.
