Jack Lang gets angry on the investigative program "Complément d'enquête": "I don't spend my time sticking my nose in people's garbage! I'm fed up!"

Jack Lang gave his first televised interview on Thursday evening since his resignation from the Arab World Institute, on the set of Complément d'enquêteThe magazine program presented by Tristan Waleckx on France 2 focused on the French aspect of the Jeffrey Epstein case, revisiting the investigations conducted in France and several previously unreleased testimonies. France Télévisions had also announced beforehand that the former Minister of Culture would answer the journalist's questions as part of this special edition.

In an interview broadcast late in the evening, Jack Lang initially attempted to answer questions about his ties to Jeffrey Epstein in a calm manner. But on several occasions, the interview became tense. Visibly exasperated by certain follow-up questions, he finally blurted out: "I don't spend my time sticking my nose in people's garbage! That's your job!"

Jack Lang denounces "lies" and expressed his exasperation

During the broadcast, the former minister addressed the recurring questions surrounding his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. He then became agitated and expressed his exasperation, denouncing the repetition of the same accusations and contesting the way they were presented to him on air. “Hearing the same stupidities, the same mistakes, the same lies repeated over and over… I’m fed up, fed up, fed up! I stand by my actions, my words, my writings, but not someone else’s. You’re a strange guy asking me to write down someone else’s thoughts.”

As a reminder, Jack Lang left the presidency of the Arab World Institute in February 2026 after the opening, on February 6, of a preliminary investigation by the National Financial Prosecutor's Office for "aggravated tax fraud money laundering" targeting him, as well as his daughter Caroline Lang.

A renewed show of support for Woody Allen

When also questioned about his unwavering support for Woody Allen, despite the controversies surrounding the American filmmaker for years, Jack Lang maintained his position without reservation: "Woody Allen is a great filmmaker whom I support, plus his sexual assault case is not clear."

A new surge in tension surrounding the Epstein case

One of the most tense moments of the interview came when Tristan Waleckx pressed him on Jeffrey Epstein. Jack Lang then raised his voice, rejecting any attempt to link his public life with the crimes of the American financier. “I’ve spent my life supporting writers and artists in prison! You can’t reduce this to petty squabbles. (…) This isn’t my affair! I’m not an accomplice to crimes of this kind!”
