Searches were carried out at the offices of Engie, formerly GDF Suez, as part of a judicial investigation targeting Rachida Dati. The National Financial Prosecutor's Office (PNF) is investigating suspicions of corruption, influence peddling, and embezzlement of public funds related to salaries the former minister allegedly received while she was a Member of the European Parliament.
These investigations are part of a procedure opened following a report from Tracfin. They focus in particular on alleged relationships of interest with foreign actors, as well as on fee payments mentioned for the period 2010-2011, which Rachida Dati strongly denies.
A multifaceted judicial investigation
The judicial investigation, opened in October, led to the appointment of two investigating judges and several operations, including searches already carried out in late 2025 at the elected official's home and at the town hall of the 7th arrondissement of Paris. Investigators are now analyzing the data collected to establish any potential offenses.
Meanwhile, Rachida Dati is involved in a separate case related to allegations of illegal lobbying for Renault and its former CEO Carlos Ghosn. She is due to stand trial in September for passive corruption and influence peddling, charges she also denies.
