Le président américain Donald Trump has decided to suspend the deportation of hundreds of South Korean workers detained during a large immigration raid at a Hyundai-LG battery factory in the United States, the Financial Times, citing South Korean officials.
According to the British daily, Trump has proposed that these workers remain in place to train an American workforce in the strategic electric battery sector. This decision comes as Washington and Seoul seek to ease tensions caused by this operation, which has raised serious concerns in South Korea.
The report could not immediately be confirmed by Reuters. If confirmed, it would mark a gesture of appeasement from Trump after his administration conducted the largest raid in recent US immigration history on a single industrial site.
