Russian President Vladimir Putin visited a military command post on Sunday where he received briefings from top officials on the situation in Ukraine, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced on Monday. According to these reports, the Russian army has taken control of the cities of Pokrovsk and Vovchansk, two strategic locations in the Donetsk and Kharkiv regions, respectively.

The TASS news agency reports that Valery Gerasimov, Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, informed Putin of the "liberation" of Pokrovsk—called Krasnoarmeysk by Moscow—as well as Vovchansk, while also detailing the results of other offensive operations conducted on various fronts. These statements are consistent with Russian military messaging, which presents these advances as major successes.

Pokrovsk, located in the Donbas, is of particular importance as a logistical hub and significant urban center in the region. Vovchansk, near the Russian border, has been one of the sites of sustained fighting since the beginning of the invasion. Independent confirmation of these captures remains difficult to establish at this time.

Putin's visit to the command post comes as military operations continue at a sustained pace, despite international diplomatic efforts to revive peace negotiations. The Kremlin continues to present its territorial gains as proof of Russia's determination to pursue its offensive.
