Emmanuel Macron, Donald Trump, and the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, were filmed on Wednesday sitting around a table at the G7 summit in Évian. Their discussion focused on Paris Saint-Germain's Champions League victory.
The emir teases Macron about OM
An unusual moment: the Emir of Qatar mentioned PSG's double victory in the Champions League, taking a dig at the French president, known to be a supporter of Olympique de Marseille: "He's not happy. He pretends to be happy, but inside..."
Emmanuel Macron replied to him: "No, I'm happy, it's a French team, don't say that."
Donald Trump was seated next to Emmanuel Macron during the exchange. The French president then explained the link between Qatar and PSG, reminding him that Qatar owned the Parisian club and that Paris had just achieved a European double.
Paris retained its European title
As a reminder, PSG won the 2025-2026 Champions League on May 30th in Budapest, at the Puskás Arena. The Parisian club defeated Arsenal 4-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw. Paris thus retains its European title.
