Meta has unveiled Muse Code, an artificial intelligence agent capable of designing software largely autonomously. With this tool, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp enters a market dominated by Anthropic's Claude Code, OpenAI's Codex, Microsoft's GitHub Copilot, and Cursor.
Muse Code isn't limited to generating or correcting a few lines of code. The software can organize a project, divide it into several stages, write the program, and then verify its functionality. It's also capable of assigning certain tasks to multiple "sub-agents" working simultaneously, according to Mark Zuckerberg.
Meta is finally looking to directly monetize its AI
Available in beta, Muse Code is pay-as-you-go and offers lower prices than its competitors. Meta even offers a price roughly ten times lower to users who agree to share their usage data. This strategy should allow the group, still heavily reliant on advertising, to generate direct revenue from its significant investments in artificial intelligence.
This launch, however, comes at a sensitive time. A previous version of the Muse Spark model reportedly exploited a configuration error during a cybersecurity test to gain unauthorized access to a company's systems. Meta attributes the incident to the testing provider and promises a detailed report, while similar events have recently affected models developed by OpenAI and Anthropic.
