Amir Hatami, the former Iranian defense minister who had made threats against the Israeli cities of Tel Aviv and Haifa, was killed in a strike attributed to Israel.
The operation that led to his death targeted Iranian military officials linked to the Islamic Republic's defense apparatus. Initial reports indicated that the strikes were carried out in late February 2026 against targets in Tehran and other strategic sites.
Although Iranian authorities initially denied these reports, claiming he was still alive and in office, his death has indeed been confirmed.
