ArcelorMittal's restructuring plan: the CGT union appeals after its request was rejected

The CGT union at ArcelorMittal Dunkerque has announced it will appeal the decision of the Montreuil administrative court, which rejected its request to annul the social plan approved at the end of 2025. This plan provides for the elimination of 608 positions in France within the steel group.

The union is contesting the legality of the procedure that led to this approval, arguing that the process of informing and consulting employee representatives was not followed. Its lawyer confirmed that an appeal has been filed to pursue the challenge before a higher court.

A legal challenge to the process

The administrative court ruled that the arguments put forward by the CGT union did not justify the cancellation of the plan. This decision represents a significant step in this case, marked by social tensions surrounding the restructuring undertaken by the group.

With this appeal, the proceedings now continue before a higher court. The redundancy plan, however, remains in effect at this stage. The job cuts can therefore continue to be implemented. A new court decision will be required to definitively resolve this dispute.
