The Lufthansa pilots' union has called for another strike in Germany on Monday and Tuesday, amid ongoing tensions with management over pay and pensions. The action is expected to disrupt a large part of the airline group's operations.
The strike affects flights operated by the main airline, Lufthansa, as well as those of several subsidiaries, including CityLine, Eurowings, and Lufthansa Cargo. However, some routes to Middle Eastern destinations will not be affected by the strike due to the current geopolitical situation.
A social conflict that is becoming entrenched
The union believes the negotiations have not yielded any concrete progress, denouncing the lack of satisfactory proposals from employers. It also points out that it avoided any mobilization during the Easter holidays, without obtaining any concessions in return.
Management still has room to avert a strike by making new offers, according to pilots' representatives. Without an agreement, this industrial action could cause significant disruption to air traffic in Germany early next week.
