HE SAID, HE LIED - When Delogu invents French opinion to please Algerian national TV

Invited onto Algerian national television, Sébastien Delogu, LFI MP for Marseille, indulged in a moment of parallel diplomacy. Between praise for the Algerian regime, kissing the flag, and flattery for President Tebboune, He went so far as to claim that the French support Algeria against Bruno Retailleau, the current French Minister of the Interior. A total untruth.

HE SAID…

"The French do not agree with Bruno Retailleau's position on Algeria. They are rather in favor of Algeria."
And to continue:
“In Algeria, everyone is kind, everyone takes care of me!”

A honeyed speech, but totally out of step with French public opinion.

HE LIED!

The facts are clear: 67% of French people support Retailleau in its standoff with Algiers, according to an Odoxa-Le Figaro poll from March 2025. 82% want the 1968 Franco-Algerian migration agreement to be modified or abolished.

In other words: not only The French do not support Algeria, but they massively validate the firm line of the Minister of the Interior.

And what is LFI doing in the meantime? It is playing on ambiguity. The majority of its MEPs voted against a text demanding the release of the writer Boualem Sansal, imprisoned in Algeria for several months.

Sébastien Delogu prefers to tell Algerians what they want to hear, even if it means insulting the truth... and his fellow French citizens. Yet another "rebel" who readily bows down when he's abroad.
