In the battle for Paris mayor, Rachida Dati can count on significant support: that of the Minister Delegate for Europe, Benjamin Haddad, and the head of the Parisian Renaissance Federation, Sylvain Maillard. Both were present last week at the inauguration of the campaign headquarters of the Minister of Culture, the Republican candidate for Paris mayor. This Thursday on X, Haddad even retweeted Dati, writing: "Unity is the path to change that Parisians want." A message seen as a repudiation of the line set by the leadership of the presidential party.
Macron's party is fracturing in Paris
Because if Emmanuel Macron has always shown a certain benevolence towards Rachida Dati, Gabriel Attal would welcome a competing candidacy, that of Pierre-Yves Bournazel, a member of Horizons, considered "less divisive" by the moderate wing of the presidential camp. Conversely, figures like Clément Beaune reject Dati, believing that she "represents neither our ideas nor our values." Tensions are therefore rising within the Macronie, where everyone seems to be preparing for the municipal battle with their own strategy, even if it means openly challenging the head of state.
A Renaissance investiture committee is expected to decide in the coming weeks. In the meantime, Rachida Dati, true to her character, continues to insist that she "brings together elected officials from all sides" and that her energy is "entirely devoted to Parisians." Behind the smiles, the war of egos and ambitions is well and truly underway in Paris.
