Pierre Gasly is officially reclassified third in the standings. Monaco Grand PrixThe two five-second penalties imposed on the Alpine driver for speeding in the pit lane have been overturned following the successful appeal filed by his team. The Frenchman therefore regains the podium position he had lost after the race.
A podium finish lost after the checkered flag
At the Monaco circuit, Gasly crossed the finish line in third position after starting ninth. His race was marked by a climb to the top four, then by gaining another place when George Russell had to serve a drive-through penalty. But after the race, two five-second penalties for speeding in the pit lane dropped him back to seventh.
Alpine earns its right to review
Alpine had appealed the penalties. The team had to provide new, significant, and relevant evidence that was not available at the time of the initial decision. The first hearing was deemed admissible, and subsequent review of the case led the stewards to rescind the two penalties applied to car number 10.
Gasly's third place is given back
The sporting consequence is immediate: Gasly regains third place in the Monaco Grand Prix. Alpine also reclaims its constructors' podium position in this race. Isack Hadjar, who had inherited third place after the initial penalties, drops to fourth. Oscar Piastri, Liam Lawson, and Arvid Lindblad also lose one position in the adjusted standings.
A decision was made in Barcelona.
The confirmation came during the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix weekend. Gasly reacted in the Barcelona paddock after the announcement of the decision. The Monaco case, opened after a chaotic race marked by two safety cars, a red flag, and several penalties, is therefore closed with a result modified several days after the race.
The final result changes at the top of the standings
Kimi Antonelli retains his victory in Monaco ahead of Lewis Hamilton. Behind them, Pierre Gasly now finishes third. For the French driver, this is his first podium of the season, achieved following a procedure carried out by Alpine that resulted in the complete cancellation of penalties.
