French driver Doriane Pin has achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first Frenchwoman to complete a full test in a modern Formula 1 car. The 22-year-old covered approximately 200 kilometers at the Silverstone circuit in Great Britain, driving a Mercedes W12, the car that won the Constructors' World Championship in 2021.
A development driver for the Mercedes team, the Parisian usually participates in simulator work and the team's technical activities. This test session represents a concrete on-track experience, which she described as "unreal," highlighting the power and the marked differences compared to the cars she has driven until now.
A symbolic step forward in a very male-dominated sport
This performance comes at a time when Formula 1 remains an exclusively male discipline at the highest level, with all 22 drivers competing in the championship being men. Although motorsport is officially mixed, women remain significantly underrepresented in the top categories.
Doriane Pin has distinguished herself in recent months by winning the F1 Academy, a championship reserved for women, before joining Mercedes as a development driver. This progress fuels hopes of seeing more women reach F1 in the future.
A journey in full acceleration
Alongside her Formula 1 activities, the young driver continues her rise in endurance racing. She was recently appointed development driver for the Peugeot Hypercar competing in the World Endurance Championship, where she continues to gain experience.
Nicknamed "Pocket Rocket" because of her size and speed, Doriane Pin embodies a new generation of drivers seeking a place in the most prestigious disciplines of motorsport.
