OM: Agreement with Bruno Genesio, but Habib Beye's departure blocks the deal

Olympique de Marseille has made its choice for next season. After several days of discussions, the club has reached an agreement with Bruno Genesio to take charge of the first team. Available since the end of his tenure with LOSC Lille, the French coach is currently the preferred option for the Marseille management to revitalize a sporting project undergoing a complete overhaul. However, Genesio's arrival cannot yet be officially announced. The deal remains contingent on one crucial condition: the departure of Habib Beye, who is still in charge at OM. Until the Senegalese coach's situation is resolved, Marseille cannot fully launch the new cycle it is already preparing behind the scenes.

Beye, a more sensitive issue than a simple change of coach

Habib Beye is not just any coach in Marseille. A former player and captain of the club, he maintains a strong connection with OM and a special image among a segment of the Marseille fans. His arrival was conceived as a homecoming imbued with emotion and identity, in an already unstable sporting context. Today, however, his future lies far from the Olympique Marseille bench. The club wants to move on, but the timing and conditions of his departure complicate matters. OM must manage a clean, legally sound, and sporting separation to avoid adding an internal crisis to an already tense off-season. The Beye situation remains the main sticking point. Genesio is ready, Marseille has made progress, but the official announcement can only come once the current coach's departure is finalized.
