Paris Saint-Germain defeated Toulouse 3-1 on Friday at the Parc des Princes, in the opening match of Ligue 1's 28th round. Led by a brace from Ousmane Dembélé and a stoppage-time goal from Gonçalo Ramos, the Parisian leaders consolidated their top spot and temporarily moved four points clear of Lens. Toulouse responded through Rasmus Nicolaisen, but were unable to halt PSG's momentum.
Dembélé lights up the evening
From the outset, Paris quickly took control of the ball and forced Toulouse back. The Parc des Princes crowd sensed an opening, and it arrived in the 23rd minute. Just outside the penalty area, Ousmane Dembélé struck a first-time shot with his left foot, sending the ball into the top corner past Guillaume Restes. The strike was pure, the stadium erupted, and PSG deservedly took the lead in a dominant opening.
Toulouse responds, Paris immediately attacks again
Four minutes later, Toulouse capitalized on a huge hesitation by Matvey Safonov on a corner. The poorly cleared ball fell back into the danger zone, Rasmus Nicolaisen rose to head home and leveled the score. PSG wavered for a moment, but didn't panic. Paris immediately went back on the attack, injected pace into their attacking moves, and regained the lead in the 33rd minute. From a Kang-in Lee corner, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia headed the ball on, and Dembélé, ever opportunistic, tapped it in to complete his brace.
Paris is in control, Toulouse is hanging on
Upon returning from the locker room, PSG maintained control of the match. The Parisians dominated possession, dictated the tempo, and searched for an opening to definitively end any suspense. Toulouse, however, remained in the game, hanging on, attempting to strike on the counter-attack, and pushing forward in the final fifteen minutes to get back into contention. Paris bent slightly at times, but didn't break. Luis Enrique's team retained overall control of the match, even without completely securing the victory.
Ramos decisive once again
The breakthrough came in stoppage time. Substitute Gonçalo Ramos picked up the ball in the penalty area and curled a shot that nestled in off the post. The 3-1 scoreline sealed the evening and gave PSG a more decisive victory. They thus concluded a solid performance, punctuated by flashes of brilliance from Dembélé and controlled with enough authority to extend their lead at the top of the table.
