On Monday in Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain was named "World Team of the Year" at the Laureus World Sports Awards 2026 ceremony. This prestigious award recognizes the exceptional 2024-2025 season of the capital club, marked by the strength of its collective and the consistency of its performances at the highest level.
Paris Saint-Germain has added another major distinction to its list of achievements. Awarded annually to the best team across all disciplines, this trophy recognizes the Club's international standing and highlights the work accomplished by the entire Parisian squad. Under the leadership of Luis Enrique, the Rouge & Bleu achieved a historic season, culminating in an unprecedented sextuple: Champions League, Intercontinental Cup, UEFA Super Cup, Ligue 1, Coupe de France, and Trophée des Champions.
This collective momentum is also reflected in the individual accolades earned by several Paris Saint-Germain players. Ousmane Dembélé, winner of the 2025 Ballon d'Or, was among the nominees for "Sportsman of the Year," alongside world sporting giants such as Carlos Alcaraz, Armand Duplantis, Marc Márquez, Tadej Pogacar, and Jannik Sinner. Meanwhile, Désiré Doué, winner of the 2025 Golden Boy award, was nominated in the "Breakthrough Player of the Year" category, alongside João Fonseca, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Luke Littler, Lando Norris, and Zidi Yu.
The two Parisian players were, in fact, the only representatives of men's football nominated across all categories at this year's awards. This further recognition illustrates the quality of the work carried out by Paris Saint-Germain throughout the season and confirms the scope of the sporting project undertaken by the Club.
This latest triumph reinforces the credibility and ambition of the Parisian project, founded on performance, youth, and collective strength. Still in contention for the Champions League semi-finals, Paris Saint-Germain continues its development with determination and high standards at the highest level.
Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, President of Paris Saint-Germain: “On behalf of everyone at Paris Saint-Germain, we extend our sincere thanks to the Laureus Awards Academy for this most prestigious distinction. This recognition once again reflects the strength of our collective – at Paris Saint-Germain, the true star is the team, both on and off the pitch. We are also very proud to represent Paris, French football, and France on the international stage, harnessing the power of sport to bring people together and make a positive impact. These values are at the heart of the Laureus Awards, and that is what makes this honor – being named Laureus World Team of the Year – so special for Paris Saint-Germain.”
