Bruno Genesio arrives at OM on a two-year contract

Bruno Genesio is set to become the manager of Olympique de Marseille. The former Lille coach has agreed to a two-year contract with the Marseille club. His arrival is expected to coincide with OM's preseason training, scheduled for July 6th. Before that, Marseille still needs to resolve the situation with Habib Beye, whose contract is to be terminated.

A case that has been stalled for a long time

Olympique de Marseille had been working on bringing in Bruno Genesio since the beginning of June. Discussions were well advanced, but several uncertainties delayed the finalization of the deal. The situation in Marseille was complicated, with appearances before UEFA and the DNCG (French football's financial watchdog). The European sanction was one of the factors weighing on the negotiations.

Marseille remain in the Europa League

UEFA has ultimately not excluded Marseille from the Europa League. The club will, however, have to pay a €10 million fine and close its transfer window with a positive balance sheet. This decision has dispelled some of the doubts surrounding Genesio's arrival.

Following the clarification of European regulations, one contractual point remained to be negotiated between Bruno Genesio and the Marseille management. An agreement has finally been reached in recent days. The coach will therefore sign a two-year contract with OM.

Genesio arrives with his staff

Bruno Genesio will not be coming to Marseille alone. He is expected to arrive with several members of his staff: Jérémie Bréchet, Dimitri Farbos, goalkeeping coach Nicolas Dehon, and Thomas Choinard, the performance manager whom he knew from his time at Stade Rennais. OM has therefore secured its new coach and is now preparing for the start of the season with Bruno Genesio at the helm.
