Arsenal are officially the 2025-2026 English champions. The Gunners clinched the title on Tuesday, even before the 38th and final matchday of the Premier League season, thanks to Manchester City's 1-1 draw at Bournemouth. This result makes City's deficit insurmountable: Arsenal have 82 points, compared to 78 for their Manchester rivals.
22 years of waiting
This title ends a long drought for the North London club, which hadn't won the league since the 2003-2004 season, the era of Arsène Wenger's legendary "Invincibles." Arsenal thus secures its 14th English league title.
Arteta, the man of reconstruction
Having taken over as manager in December 2019, Mikel Arteta secured the first league title of his coaching career. After three consecutive seasons finishing in second place, Arsenal finally held on until the end, with a more mature, more solid team that was more consistent in crucial moments.
Arsenal's title was built on a particularly effective defense and significant efficiency on set pieces. Less spectacular than some of the club's past teams, this side has shed the "loser" image that had clung to it for several years in England.
Manchester City falter at the worst possible time
Manchester City absolutely had to win at Bournemouth to keep their title hopes alive. The draw conceded by Pep Guardiola's team definitively paved the way for the Londoners' triumph. Four points behind with only one matchday remaining, the Citizens can no longer catch Arsenal.
Arsenal will be able to savor their title on the final day, before turning their attention to another event: the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain, scheduled for May 30.
