Behind the glamour of the Oscars ceremony lies a spectacular banquet. After the 98th edition, scheduled for March 15 in Los Angeles, Hollywood stars will gather, as they do every year, at the famous "Governors' Ball," a private party where an impressive buffet awaits them. According to AFP, thousands of dishes will be prepared to feed the guests, with a menu as extravagant as it is varied.
A giant buffet imagined by chef Wolfgang Puck
At the helm of the event for over three decades, Austrian chef Wolfgang Puck will once again orchestrate this extraordinary meal. He explained to AFP that nearly 25,000 dishes will be served during the evening, a logistical challenge designed to satisfy the tastes of an audience of celebrities from around the world.
The menu promises to be particularly lavish: approximately 30 kilos of caviar, 100 kilos of pork ribs, and large quantities of truffles, smoked salmon, and chicken are among the ingredients used. Guests will also be able to enjoy a vast buffet of sushi prepared to order, as well as classic dishes such as chicken pie. "You can eat Japanese, Austrian, you can always have the best steak," Wolfgang Puck told AFP during the menu presentation.
The organizers have also planned vegan options so that everyone can find something to enjoy. As for drinks, the event's partners will provide thousands of bottles of wine, champagne, sake, and tequila, as well as cocktails inspired by Mexican and Italian cultures.
Chocolate figurines to console the losers
The most anticipated moment of the buffet is often dessert. Guests can enjoy the traditional chocolate Oscar figurines, created by French pastry chef Garry Larduinat, originally from Limoges. Having been responsible for designing these sweets for several years, he considers them a symbolic reward for nominees who leave empty-handed.
“It’s so difficult to win an Oscar. So to have one in chocolate and take it home is something very special,” the pastry chef told AFP. In addition to these famous figurines, the dessert buffet will also offer apple strudel, an ice cream stand, and pyramids of colorful macarons and madeleines—the perfect way to end the Hollywood evening on a truly indulgent note.
