Germany - an Asterix park will be built there by 2030-2031

Compagnie des Alpes has confirmed the transformation of the German park Belantis, acquired this spring, into the first Parc Astérix outside of France. This transformation, carried out in agreement with Albert René publishers, was planned to take place over several years, culminating in a park entirely themed around the world of the indomitable Gauls by 2030-2031. The group announced a first step as early as spring 2026 with the opening of an area dedicated to Dogmatix, Obelix's dog, marking the beginning of a major project aimed at repositioning Belantis within the European leisure market. Belantis, located near Leipzig and well-connected to Dresden and Berlin, is presented as one of the major parks in eastern Germany, with over eighty hectares of freehold land. Compagnie des Alpes estimated that this site had the potential to eventually attract nearly nine hundred thousand visitors per year. Germany was seen as a particularly favorable location for the establishment of a brand as well-known as Asterix, the country being the second largest market in the world for comic book albums, just behind France, and the second largest European market for amusement parks.

An international development that accompanies the growth of the French park

This announcement came as Parc Astérix in France was also embarking on an ambitious investment plan. The Plailly site, in the Oise region, the second most visited park in the country after Disneyland Paris with nearly three million visitors during the 2024-2025 season, aimed to join the top five European parks. Compagnie des Alpes planned to invest nearly two hundred and fifty million euros by 2030 to develop new attractions and enhance accommodation and visitor services. The opening of a Parc Astérix in Germany marked an international first for the brand, whose expansion relied on its particularly strong brand recognition in Germany. The gradual transformation of Belantis was intended to ensure continued operation while progressively introducing the world of Goscinny and Uderzo into all the attractions and themed areas. With this operation, Compagnie des Alpes intended to establish the Asterix identity as a pillar of its European development and to capture a family clientele already strongly attached to the Gaulish universe.
