accusations of privacy violation

The seven plaintiffs accuse the publisher of Daily Mail of using illegal methods to obtain personal information, including employing private investigators, installing listening devices in vehicles and homes, recording telephone conversations, and using police officers to obtain confidential data. These allegations primarily concern events that occurred between 1993 and 2011, with additional incidents reported in 2018. The publisher, for its part, firmly rejects these accusations and calls them unfounded.

The trial represents one of Harry's last major legal actions against the British tabloid press, following several similar cases in recent years.

The Duke of Sussex has already testified in court. In 2023, he appeared in court against the group Mirror in a case involving the hacking of telephone messages, which led to the publisher's conviction and Harry being awarded compensation. In another recent case, he obtained a formal apology and damages from the publisher of the Sun for invasion of privacy.

Although he has to travel to London for the trial, Prince Harry is not expected to cross paths with his father. King Charles IIIduring this visit. Their last in-person meeting dates back to September 2025, after a lack of direct contact for over a year and a half. The Duke of Sussex, who stepped back from royal duties in 2020, is thus continuing his legal battle while maintaining his life and family in California.
