A man born in 1988 was arrested on August 5 at his home in Vesoul, Haute-Saône, after being identified online by the police cybercrime unit. Previously unknown to the justice system, he is suspected of having downloaded, recorded, and distributed child pornography.
The investigation began when a police officer on a cyber patrol detected suspicious online behavior. Analysis of digital traffic reportedly revealed the circulation and storage of prohibited files. Investigators then traced the suspect's IP address, which allowed them to locate his apartment.
A computer was streaming images continuously.
During the search, police discovered a computer continuously displaying child pornography. More than 4,000 images, 44 videos, and several sex toys were seized, including a doll representing a minor. The suspect reportedly admitted to downloading and possessing these items during his detention.
A judicial investigation was opened on August 7 for possession and acquisition of child pornography, as well as for recording or capturing pornographic images of a 15-year-old. After appearing before a judge, the man in his thirties was placed under judicial supervision. He is specifically prohibited from contacting minors or engaging in any professional or volunteer work with them.
