Two residents of Souillac, in the Lot department, have been placed in pretrial detention following the discovery of a large arsenal and several kilos of narcotics during a police operation. The couple has been charged with arms trafficking, drug trafficking, and criminal conspiracy.
Investigators seized five AK47 and M16 assault rifles, several handguns, rifles, over a thousand rounds of ammunition, and tear gas grenades. They also discovered approximately 11 kilograms of drugs, including cocaine, heroin, ketamine, MDMA, and amphetamines, as well as €26,000 in cash.
An arrest following a discreet investigation
The investigation was opened on May 19 by the gendarmerie in Toulouse and Gourdon. The two suspects were finally arrested in a camper van as they returned from the Netherlands and headed towards an isolated site in Martel, near their home.
Brought before the criminal division of the Agen court, they are being prosecuted for several offenses related to arms trafficking, money laundering, and receiving stolen goods. The magistrates ordered their pretrial detention pending further investigation.
