A network of luxury car thieves dismantled after a spectacular burglary in Paris

A large-scale police operation was launched after the theft of around twenty luxury vehicles from a car concierge service in Paris's 15th arrondissement. Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Jaguars, and Porsches were among the cars targeted by the thieves. The Paris prosecutor's office confirmed the opening of an investigation and the arrest of a dozen people.

According to initial findings of the investigation, law enforcement intervened during the night following a report that several masked individuals were attempting to steal a vehicle from a facility specializing in the storage and management of high-end cars. Police reportedly caught some of the suspects in the act.

Luxury cars are increasingly being targeted

The investigation is now seeking to determine whether the suspects belong to a structured network specializing in the theft and resale of luxury vehicles. Some of the cars are believed to have been destined for clandestine export abroad, a common modus operandi in this type of case.

For several years, luxury cars have become prime targets for certain criminal networks due to their high resale value and the difficulty in tracing some vehicles once they leave French territory. High-end SUVs, sports models, and rare vehicles are among the most sought after.

An investigation is still ongoing in Paris.

The Paris prosecutor's office stated that the investigation is ongoing to identify any accomplices and recover all the stolen vehicles. Several searches have already been carried out in various areas of the Île-de-France region following the initial arrests.

This also raises questions about the security of luxury car concierge services, a rapidly growing sector in Paris where some clients entrust vehicles worth several hundred thousand euros for storage, maintenance or personalized services.
