A 17-year-old boy was violently attacked Thursday evening in Strasbourg and is in critical condition. Found severely injured in the street, he had particularly extensive facial injuries, to the point that he was described as unrecognizable, according to police sources. Emergency services took him to the hospital, as his life was in danger at the time of the attack.

According to initial findings, the victim was struck with a hammer during the attack. The exact circumstances are still being determined, but investigators are working to reconstruct the events of the evening and to precisely identify the perpetrators.

An altercation over a football shirt

A young man went to the police shortly after the incident, claiming to have witnessed the assault. He stated that two of his friends were involved, mentioning a dispute over a football jersey. This witness was taken into custody for questioning.

The Strasbourg public prosecutor's office has been notified and an investigation is underway to try to find the two suspects, who are currently on the run. At this stage, the prosecutor declined to comment further on the case.
