The illegal rave party held in a wooded area of Forges-de-Lanouée, in Morbihan, ended Tuesday morning after four days of gatherings. The prefecture announced that the sound system had been turned off and dismantled, and a mass exodus of participants was observed overnight. Around 200 people were still present on the site at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, compared to nearly 2,000 at the event's peak.
The gendarmerie continued checks at the exit of the site. According to the prefecture, participants leaving the area were systematically checked and fined. In total, more than 1,900 fines were issued for participating in an illegal gathering, drug use, and traffic violations. More than 4,200 people, including participants and passersby, were also checked.
A gathering under high surveillance
Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez had called for systematic fines and the confiscation of sound equipment, while ruling out police intervention to end the party. According to him, an evacuation could have provoked clashes and increased the risk of fire.
Organised while Morbihan was under red alert for heatwave with a very high risk of forest fires, this free party was strongly criticized by the prefect Michaël Galy, who denounced the irresponsibility of the organizers and the dangers to which the participants, the rescue services and the environment were exposed.
