Louis was 17 years old. On Friday, June 19, in the early evening, the teenager was brutally attacked at a construction site on the Quai d'Alsace in Narbonne. Initial findings suggest an ambush: Louis was allegedly lured to the site before being beaten by several youths and then left unconscious. The attack was filmed, and videos of the incident have circulated on social media.
Louis was found unconscious the following morning
On Saturday, June 20, around 9 a.m., a construction worker discovered Louis on the building site and alerted emergency services. The teenager had serious facial injuries, including hematomas, bruises, and bleeding from his mouth and nose. Initially taken to the hospital in Narbonne, he was later transferred to Perpignan. He died on Tuesday, June 23, from his injuries.
Five young people charged
Five young people, including three minors, have been arrested, charged with attempted murder, and placed in pretrial detention. The investigation still needs to establish precisely each individual's role, the full sequence of events, and the motive.
The motive is still unknown
The prosecutor's office indicated that the motive remained unknown at this stage. It also ruled out a racial motive. Previous violence had been reported by Louis, but the prosecutor clarified that a complaint filed on May 11th concerned other young people, unrelated to those charged.
A mother facing the unthinkable
After her son's death, Louis's mother published a heartbreaking text. In it, she speaks of her child, his final moments, her love, and her determination to fight for justice.
“My son, my love, my life…”
Since Saturday, life has stopped for me…
You fought like a lion, my love, with all the strength I know you're capable of, and I thank you, my love, for giving me the chance to walk with you until the very last moment, my love…
You came into the world in my arms, and you left in my arms, surrounded by all your loved ones and their love… There are no goodbyes between us, my baby. You are and always will be with me….
Mom is in warrior mode, my son. You know I will fight with every ounce of strength I possess to ensure you get justice…
I love you, my Boubou, so much that my heart hasn't known how to beat since its metronome left… Make me dance with God and the angels to your music, my love.
A family demanding justice
The grief surrounding Louis is immense. His mother vows to fight. His family demands a full investigation into the exact circumstances of the murder, who is responsible, and the motive. In Narbonne, tributes have been placed near the construction site where the teenager's body was found.
