Digital platforms are attracting ever-increasing numbers of sexual predators. In France, sexually explicit profiles targeting young users are multiplying rapidly. This alarming increase is transforming online social spaces into risk zones for minors.
A phenomenon that is now global
Digital exploitation is no longer confined to a few regions. At the end of July, the International Organization for Migration warned of the spread of these criminal practices, historically concentrated in Southeast Asia, to West and Central Africa. Thousands of young people are falling victim to fake job offers circulating on social media, before being forced to scam other victims.
World Day Against Trafficking in Persons prompted the publication of an IOM report. This document highlighted the methods of forced recruitment used by criminal networks to exploit their targets via digital platforms. The increase in predatory profiles in France is part of this global trend.
