A 49-year-old man was shot and killed Tuesday evening, July 14, in downtown Grenoble while watching the World Cup semi-final between France and Spain from a bar terrace. The shooting occurred shortly before 22 p.m., near Cours Jean-Jaurès. According to initial reports, the victim was spotted by several individuals before being chased down the street.
The man tried to flee, but his assailants caught him on Rue Charrel, where they opened fire several times. When emergency services arrived, the victim was in cardiac arrest. Despite the firefighters' resuscitation attempts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
