On May 9 and 10, a helicopter will fly over the town north of Toulouse to dismantle a power line. RTE is calling on residents to secure all outdoor objects.
A spectacular aerial intervention
In Fenouillet, north of Toulouse, the electricity network operator RTE will carry out an unusual operation: the removal by helicopter of the pylons of the old Ginestous-Saint Alban overhead line, now replaced by an underground line. This operation, which will involve a helicopter flying at very low altitude, is planned for two days, Friday, May 9 and Saturday, May 10, 2025, weather permitting.
Strict security measures for residents
In a message to local residents, RTE emphasizes the need to secure all outdoor objects. Starting Thursday morning, May 8, residents are asked to bring inside or secure anything that could fly away: garden furniture, flower pots, pool accessories, bicycles, bags, clotheslines, children's toys, barbecues, etc. Windows must be closed and shutters properly secured. This instruction aims to prevent any incident related to the rotor wash. A safety perimeter will also be set up around the operation area, including the complete closure of the cycle path and car parks between the Lacourtensourt lock and the Bruguières path. RTE urges local residents to exercise caution and strictly comply with the instructions.
